In the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl the entry door to lab X16 was merely a static environment detail.
This entry shows the progress of making the door a fully dynamic prop with simulated cables.
The original door mesh is separated into pieces, and the cables are recreated and simulated using tyFlow.
With custom tools, bones can be created along the new cables, attached to the simulated cables and subsequently the movement of the bones can be baked into a completely independent keyframe animation, ready for export to Unreal Engine.
The gears are animated using expressions.
The gear track beneath the door has been remodelled to be mechanically correct.
